Yet, O Lord, you are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; We are all the work of your hand."  -Isaiah 64:8

First Journey

Leader/Contact: Rose True - rdtrue@nc.rr.com

History: Prior to 1989, the UMW at Holland’s was one large group of women. In 1989 under the leadership of Nancy Burnette, a group of 10 women ventured out to create the first “circle” of women within the UMW. The new circle was named FIRST JOURNEY which described the group and their mission. The young ladies that were part of the initial circle are now mostly grandmothers. Our group age in general is 60 plus.

Focus: First Journey is a caring and supportive group of “sisters in Christ”. Our hope is that the Lord will continue to lead us as we travel on our journey to serve and honor Him in all our mission activities.

Meeting Schedule: Monthly on the 4th Tuesday @7:00 pm in room 103. Although our mission work continues all year, we do not have regularly scheduled meetings during our summer break (June, July and August). During COVID 19 restrictions when we were unable to meet at the church, we met via Zoom. We have a summer social in June and a winter social in December.

* Work Groups: Small groups work together to prepare meals for families as
well as others in the community and work in mission activities/events.

Lydia's Sisters meet at 10:30am on the 4th Saturday of each month in the Fellowship Hall.  We occasionally meet at the homes of members or have a social event at a local restaurant. New Horizons

Leader/Contact: Rebecca Barbour - rebecca.barbour@gmail.com

Welcoming our sisters in Christ in spirit and truth; to fellowship, serve and journey in faith together.

New Horizons meets monthly, alternating between the 1st Sunday and 1st Thursday. We try to meet in member homes for an intimate and familial setting. We talk, we worship, we laugh, we pray, we eat, we plan, we fill our spiritual cups. As a circle, we strive to grow spiritually, build Christian friendships and offer a soft place to land with our sisters in Christ.

New Horizons serves in various missions both within and outside of Holland’s. We are actively involved in the Youth and Children's Ministry, H.O.P.E. Ministry and Family Promise. We help the less fortunate within our community and have an open heart for needs close to home.

We have self-led retreats for spiritual renewal. These can be local or out of town. All of our circle communication (prayers, announcements, upcoming events) is done through our Google group.

You may hear us before you see us, we can be a loud group. When I say, ‘JESUS!’ - you say, ‘CHRIST!’ We believe strongly in the aspect of sisterhood in Christ and embody this for each other through our prayers and our ‘hands and feet' way of loving one another. You can also find us reverently and boldly praying - we believe in the power and strength of praying people.

We are an open group and we welcome you to visit and join us!
